Mayors and other elected officials gathered on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Thomasville Career Readiness Center and Public Library in Thomasville, Ala., to tout the benefits of adding four lanes to U.S. 43 and Alabama State Route 69 from Thomasville north to Moundville. The additional lanes, officials say, will created a four-lane West Alabama Highway connecting Mobile to Tuscaloosa and north toward Florence.
